Coal Oil Point Reserve Self-guided Tour Program

In April 2009, Shorelines & Watersheds will launch a Self-Guided Tour at Coal Oil Point Reserve (COPR).

The tour will consist of 20 interpretive signs along a 3 mile loop on UCSB's West Campus and Coal Oil Point Reserve. Brochures and formal entrances to the tour can be found at the intersection of Del Playa and Camino Majorca (in Isla Vista), the Sand's Beach entrance to COPR, and the southern entrance to COPR's Pond Trail.

Beginning in April 2009 a podcast to accompany the Self-Guided Tour will be available for download.
Numbers on interpretive placards correspond to tracks on the podcast.

Directions for podcast download and usage:

  1. You will need your own ipod or MP3 player, and a program on your computer such as itunes to use this podcast. You can download itunes for free at this website: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
  2. Download the podcast by clicking on the link above.
  3. Unpack the zipped file.
  4. Upload the MP3s to itunes or another MP3 player.
  5. Do this by double clicking on each MP3 - the file will automatically open in your MP3 player.
  6. Upload the MP3s to your ipod or other MP3 player.
